Are you looking for a new way to take a Curcumin product?

Hello everyone! Here we are near the end of April! Today’s blog is about product that you hear so much about nowadays. It is in almost every joint and herb section of  supplement/grocery stores all across the country. It is, the Indian spice known as Turmeric. What you may not know is turmeric comes in many different forms. For example, you can buy it in bulk root in many produce stores. It also comes in powder, tea bags, liquid tinctures, tablets, softgel, and capsules. But wait! There is now one more way you can get it!! A company named Terry Naturally now offers Turmeric in a brand new way: an effervescent tablet (like Alka Seltzer). The name of this product is CuraMed.

Terry Naturally also makes CuraMed also in softgels, but today’s focus is the CuraMed Effervescent tablets. Why? Honestly, because every now and then it’s good to lay off of trying another hard tablet, capsule, or even softgel. Taking pill after pill to receive a high quality nutrient gets old at times, I admit. As of late I’ve been searching for more powdered options to lessen the amount of pills I take daily.

Some of my searches have lead me to turmeric powder (I mixed one teaspoon in with my ginger tea and some honey). I liked that combination, but the strong taste of turmeric was a bit much at times. Another turmeric drink I tried was “Golden Milk”. There are many different videos on Youtube which show you how to make this mix, but if you want a ready to make powder of it Jarrow Formulas and Gaia Herbs both make excellent Golden Milk powders.  I’ve tried both, and enjoy drinking either one from time to time.

Although I really enjoyed the Golden milk recipe, there are still many benefits of turmeric that we can’t get by just drinking it. If you don’t already know, the main reason people supplement with turmeric is because of one of its powerful nutrient known as curcumin. It is actually a class of nutrients called “curcuminoids.” There are multiple of them, but the general term of them is curcumin for short. Curcumin is what gives turmeric its anti-cancer, immune building, liver cleansing, blood sugar regulating, and other benefiting properties. Turmeric has even been shown to help with brain health, even helping rid toxins out of the brain so it can function properly. However, the most notable of these properties is the anti-inflammatory properties that curcumin provides.

We all have inflammation at some time or another. The problem finding the right product to lower inflammation. Let’s say you are going to use a turmeric powder, but wait. If you are using a powder, you could have a pound’s worth and less than two percent of that pound it has curcumin. In other words, most Americans don’t use enough of turmeric to feel curcumin’s effect. So companies had to find a way to extract curcumin from turmeric, without having to consume pounds of turmeric on a daily basis.

There are different ways supplement companies use to extract curcumin from turmeric. And various methods of making the curcumin more bioavailable in the body (meaning easier for it to be absorbed in your intestinal track). Terry Naturally uses a very unique form of curcumin that has shown superior availability to most turmeric/curcumin formulas in the market. They use what is called BCM-95 extract of curcumin. BCM-95 is a patented form of curcumin, in which a ninety-five percent extract of curcumin is then mixed with turmeric oil. Turmeric has been shown in clinical trials to be better absorbed with mixed with a healthy fat. So what better way to take a turmeric/curcumin supplement, than taking one that is mixed with an oil (a healthy fat) that comes from turmeric? That will   maximize its effectiveness. I don’t think there is a better way!

BCM-95 has 29 published clinical trials backing the effectiveness, and   higher absorption rate compared to other forms or curcumin. Plus it also has a longer half-life in your body. Most curcumin products are only in your bloodstream for a few hours (If you are lucky). With BCM-95 your blood levels of curcumin are raised for up to 12 hours! Yes you just read that right.  Speaking of clinical trials, one study was just published on April 11th from a few doctors at Baylor University in Dallas. It showed how much more powerful curcumin is when combined with turmeric essential oil in combating Colitis. The link to this study will be at the end of this article. A 2015 study shows BCM-95’s effectiveness in helping chemotherapy kill chemoresistant cells. Also, a joint India-US study done in 2013 shows that BCM-95 curcumin rivaled a generic version of the drug Prozac in helping alleviate the symptoms of depression. These are just only a few studies showing what BCM-95 curcumin is capable of helping us with.

And because of Terry Naturally’s creativity, we don’t have to take this in pill or powder form if we don’t want to! With Terry Naturally Curamed Effervescent tabs, all you need to do is put one tablet in warm or cold water and let it fizz until done! It has a tangerine flavor, so those who do not like the taste of turmeric need not worry. Always remember though, turmeric is still a spice. So this drink still has a nice kick to it. I have been taken one tablet fizzed in cold water daily. Sometimes I mix one tablet with warm ginger tea for further joint and digestive help. With is being an effervescent tablet the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric are felt rapidly.

I hope this information helps everyone! And if you try it, leave me a comment and tell me what you think!

Be safe everyone and take care!
